Sarah E. Phillips is a partner at the firm with more than two decades of experience in the legal field. She joined the firm in December 2018 and, after approximately six years as an associate, was named a partner. Ms. Phillips maintains a diverse practice encompassing complex litigation, medical malpractice, insurance coverage, personal injury, matrimonial and residential and commercial real estate. Ms. Phillips has extensive experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation. Her litigation practice includes medical malpractice, personal injury, insurance coverage, and Labor Law matters, from case evaluation and discovery through motion practice, depositions, settlement negotiations, mediation, and trial. She has handled matters involving physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare professionals, as well as a broad range of individual and corporate clients. Her experience on both sides of litigation provides her with a comprehensive perspective on the strategies and issues that arise throughout the litigation process.

In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Phillips has substantial experience in residential and commercial real estate. She represents clients in the negotiation and closing of residential and commercial transactions and handles a wide range of real estate-related disputes and litigation. Her practice includes advising clients regarding contract issues, closing disputes, title and property-related matters, and other issues arising in connection with real estate transactions and ownership.

Ms. Phillips earned her Bachelor of Science from Marist College in 2008, where she participated in the Emerging Leaders Program. She was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the International Business Honor Society, and received the Sigma Alpha Pi Presidential Letter of Excellence from the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Ms. Phillips began her legal career working as a paralegal while pursuing her legal education at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law. After completing the 1L program, she was approved in 2013 to continue her legal education through a Law Office Study Program pursuant to Section 520.4 of the Rules of the Court of Appeals of the State of New York. Over the following three years, she gained extensive practical experience as a Law Office Clerk while continuing her legal studies and developing a broad foundation in civil litigation, real estate, corporate law and other areas of law.

Following completion of her clerkship, Ms. Phillips was certified by the New York State Appellate Division, Second Department, to sit for the New York State Bar Examination. She passed the February 2017 examination and was admitted as an Attorney and Counselor at Law in New York State on June 14, 2017.

Ms. Phillips brings to each matter a practical, hands-on approach developed through years of experience representing clients in both litigation and transactional matters. Her broad background allows her to evaluate legal issues from multiple perspectives and to provide clients with thoughtful, strategic representation tailored to their individual circumstances.
